For the satisfaction of individual customerrequirements, products with many options are offered inmass customization. However, in the area of ecommerce,the large number of possible productconfigurations can overwhelm the customer, as he or sheis not supported by a human sales expert. To minimizethe customer’s overload, this paper examines thecombination of a knowledge-based product configuratorwith an upstream probabilistic recommender system toprovide a quick, individual and dynamic initialorientation for the customer. The application of theapproach is demonstrated using an example fromengineering design. | |
